OUTSTANDING HUMAN RESOURCES STUDENTS HONORED AT ECU

Parker Kempf (left) of Oklahoma City receives the Richard E. Baumgartner Graduate Scholarship at East Central University from Dr. Randal Elston, professor of human resources, at the annual awards and recognitions program hosted by ECU’s Human Resources Department. The scholarship honors Baumgartner, the former chair of the department who died in 2004.

Sterling Headen (left) of Arlington, Texas, is recognized as the recipient of the $800 Chief “Pete” Gray Scholarship in criminal justice at East Central University in Ada, Okla., by Wayne McElhannon, director of the Collegiate Officer Program at ECU. The presentation was made at the annual awards and recognitions program hosted by ECU’s Human Resources Department. Headen will participate in the COPS program this summer. Students who complete the program are certified as law enforcement officers.

Dennis Smith of Asher and Liberty Tamplen of Tishomingo (third and fourth from left) are recognized as recipients of $600 Natashia Wright Scholarships at East Central University by Monalita Wright (left), sister of the late Natashia Wright, and Wayne McElhannan, director of ECU’s Collegiate Officer Program. Smith and Tamplen will complete ECU’s COPS program this summer. Natashia Wright, a native of McAlester, was an ECU graduate, a member of the first Oklahoma Police Corps Academy and an Ada police officer who died in a traffic accident. Rina “Amy” Chronister-Phillips (right) of Norman receives the Social Work Student of the Year Award at East Central University from Dr. Carol Bridges, ECU professor of human resources. The presentation was made during the annual awards and recognitions program hosted by ECU’s Human Resources Department. Chronister-Phillips received her bachelor’s degree in social work from ECU in December and works in the mental/behavioral health field.
