COLLEGE OF HEALTH, SCIENCES STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS AT ECU

 

East Central University student Erik Abrahamson (left) of Ada receives a certificate recognizing his completion of a geotechniques internship last summer from Dr. Robert Newcomer, ECU assistant professor of cartography and geography. Abrahamson completed the internship with Visual Lease Services in Holdenville. He also was honored for participating this year at Oklahoma Research Day. The presentation was made during the ECU College of Health and Sciences awards ceremony this spring.

The Outstanding Computer Science majors at East Central University for 2007-08 are Justin Martin (from left) of Stratford, Jay Prasad of Surrey, British Columbia, Steven Ashley of McAlester, Sarah Newell of Earlsboro, Justin Lane of Sapulpa and Manuel Rojas of La Porte, Texas, shown with Clay Carley, assistant professor of computer science, and Dr. Bill Walker, chair of the Computer Science Department. Rojas also was awarded the Mihov Scholarship. They were honored at the ECU College of Health and Sciences awards ceremony this spring.

Recognized were Brandon Parker, Danny Ritter and Lee McElroy of Ada, Elizabeth Cookson of Muskogee and Tyler Jackson of Ada, all inducted into the Epsilon Nu Eta Honor Society for Environmental Health Sciences. Cookson was awarded the Pfeffer Scholarship and Parker received an internship appointment from the United States Public Health Service to be completed this summer.

Flick also received the Oklahoma State Medical Alliance-Anne Garrison Nursing Scholarship that awarded her $2,000. The presentations were made during the College of Health and Sciences awards ceremony this spring.

Wingo was the first recipient of the $500 Edward M. Smith Memorial Gift Scholarship for the outstanding student in the medical physics program. Thompson, Ferguson and Sennett were three of the Top Ten Freshmen at ECU and Thompson, Ferguson, Foster and Quiett each received $450 Brown Mackin Scholarships in physics.
