Degree Information
Degree Checks, Audits, Updates, Applying for
Graduation, and Diploma Ordering
Degree Audits
Once a student has completed 60 or more credit hours, an
official degree audit (or degree check) is necessary. Requests
for degree checks may be picked up in the Office of Admissions &
Records, Room 111 of the Administration Building. After the
request is completed by the student, it is processed in the
order of receipt. This process takes approximately three to four
weeks; however, during peak times, such as the end of semester
or the beginning of a semester, this time may increase. Transfer students should be prepared to supply course
descriptions of all courses appearing on their transcript
(including withdrawn courses) at the time of admission. These
descriptions will be used to determine equivalencies at the time
a degree check is processed. A copy of the degree check is sent
to the student and his/her advisor.
Note: Degree checks are not processed for transfer students
until they have completed one full semester at ECU.
Degree Check Updates
If a student has previously had a degree check and needs only an
update, the degree check form should be filled out and marked
Updated Degree Check. This also takes approximately three to
four
weeks to process. Unless there is a major or minor change,
requests for updated degree checks will not be processed unless
one calendar year has elapsed since the last degree check. A
copy will be mailed to the student and the student's advisor.
Applying For Graduation
When enrolling in the last semester of course work, an
Application for Degree should be completed and returned to the
Office of Admissions & Records. This gold card may be picked up
in the Admissions & Records Office or at any School Enrollment
Center. It is imperative that applications are submitted by the
printed deadline to assure a diploma is ordered and a student's
name is included in the commencement program. A $25 graduation
fee is due by the last day of the semester to ensure that
graduates can pick up their diploma or any official transcripts.
Graduate students should apply for graduation in the Graduate
Office, Room 125 of the Danley Hall.
Diploma Re-orders
When a diploma is lost or destroyed, it may be reordered by
sending a written request to the Office of Admissions & Records.
The request should include the student's name, as it is to
appear on the diploma, social security number, a photocopy of a
picture id or driver's license, a $7.00 check or money order
made payable to ECU and the address where the diploma is to be
mailed. This process takes approximately two weeks. Note: If
student's name is different than school records, proof of name
change is required.
