East Central University invites students, alum, faculty, staff and friends of the university to celebrate ECU's Homecoming, Oct. 21 - 25. This year's Homecoming theme is "Vote for Roary," Roary the Tiger being ECU's mascot.

Several ECU student organizations and the ECU Alumni Association have planned events through the week leading up to the 6 p.m. kickoff Saturday [Oct. 25] of the football game between the ECU Tigers and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

The first homecoming event, the School of Business Luncheon, is on Tuesday [Oct. 21]. All former students from the School of Business are invited. The luncheon begins at noon in the Stanley P. Wagner Ballroom. Cost is $9 per person or two for $15 and RSVP is required. Please contact Mary Tilley at 580-559-5274.

Also on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., in the University Center, is the Day of Dialog: How to Vote for Roary, a day designed to inform voters on the candidates and the issues. This event is sponsored by the American Democracy Project and the department of political science and legal studies.

On Wednesday the CREW is sponsoring fun and games including the G-Force Twin Spin to coincide with student elections of Homecoming king and queen. Voting takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the mall.

A pep rally will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday [Oct. 23] at McBride Gym followed on Friday with free hot dogs on the lawn in front of Danley Hall from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The Alumni Association Golf Tournament is Friday [Oct. 24] at the Oak Hills Golf and Country Club. The four person scramble tees off at 1 p.m.

A free hamburger lunch is provided for all paid golfers, $10 for non-golfers. Cost for the tournament is $100 per player, sponsorship packages are available.

"The Foreigner" a play by Larry Shue and directed by Richard Groetzinger takes place during homecoming week with performances at the Dorothy I. Summers Theatre at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday [Oct. 22-24]. A matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday [Oct. 25]. Admission is free for ECU students with valid ID; $5 for senior citizens, children and non ECU students and $7 for adults.

Saturday [Oct. 25] wraps up the week of activities with multiple events starting with the Alumni Association 5K Run at Wintersmith Park at 8 a.m. Cost is $25 per runner/ $50 per team.

The Golden Tiger Brunch begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Stanley P. Wagner Ballroom. The brunch is free to all alumni who graduated in 1958 or before. The cost for all others is $10 each in advance or $15 at the door.

Also taking place at 10:30 a.m. is the Alumni Association Legacy Brunch for all current legacy students and parents. Legacy students are those whose parents/grandparents attended ECU. The event will be held at the Sterling L. Williams Foundation and Alumni Center and the cost for two people is $5.

The Athletic Alumni Association Meeting is at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will be held in the Jerry Anderson Room, Kerr Activities Center. All alumni athletes are invited and the event is free.

ECU's Homecoming parade will begin at noon. The parade route will start at Main and Center Streets and head west on Main through the downtown area and ending at Main and Stockton Streets. This event is free and open to the public.

At 2 p.m., the ECU Band Alumni Association will meet at the ECU Band Room. All former members of the ECU Band, Jazz Banc, Symphonic Band and Color Guard are invited to attend. This event is free.

The College of Health and Sciences will host an open house at 2 p.m. featuring the departments of cartography and geography, health information managements, mathematics, nursing and physics followed by a tailgate with free food at the Norris Stadium parking lot (north end) beginning at 3 p.m.

Tiger Tailgate begins at 4 p.m. at the north end of the Norris Stadium parking lot with free food and live music.

Homecoming king and queen coronation is at 5:30 p.m., Norris Field, followed by the 6 p.m. kickoff of ECU vs. Southwestern. General admission is $5, children 12 and under is $3. Admission is free for Golden Tigers with their Golden Tiger Medallion.

The last Homecoming event will be an ECU Alumni Association Social at 9:30 p.m., Ada Elk's Lodge. Everyone is invited to this event and there is no door charge.
