The East Central University Flute Ensemble will perform its Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 [FRIDAY] at the Ada Arts and Heritage Center at 14th and Rennie. The theme is celebration and giving, using new and traditional tunes to reflect and commemorate the spirit of the holiday season.

The performance will include all the members of the flute family: the piccolo, soprano flute, alto flute and ECU's newly acquired bass flute.

"The addition of the larger flutes to the choir expands the range and depth of the music, while still maintaining the beautiful blended timbres that only flutes can create," said Juliana Overmier, adjunct instructor and conductor.

The program will include "Tambourin," "Simple Gifts," "Danza Mexicana #2" and "Songs Without Words/The Evening Star."

Also, "Away in a Manger," "We Three Kings/Carol of the Bells," "Ding! Dong! Merrily on High" and Tchaikovsky's "Miniature Overture" (from the Nutcracker)and "Dance of the Reed Pipes."

Members of the Flute Ensemble are Kristen Auten of Ardmore; Sarra Blok of Ada; Ashley Branscum of Checotah; Danna Howry of Ada, Elizabeth Negrete of Madill and Rebekah Unruh of Ardmore.
