Eligible veterans can receive free green energy job training in a four-week class beginning May 2 [MONDAY] in Oklahoma City.           

East Central University’s Veterans Workforce Investment Program will offer a Green Pre-Construction Trades Academy through May 27 through a partnership with the Western Oklahoma Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee at 1700 S.E. 15 in Oklahoma City.           

The training will prepare veterans to enter construction trades and/or apprenticeship program areas as electricians, plumbers/pipe fitters, sheet metal or iron workers, insulators, carpenters, laborers, masons, operating engineers, truck drivers, utility workers, welders or wind and solar technicians.           

Training will include such topics as an introduction to green construction, construction math, wind turbine orientation, solar orientation, OSHA safety training, aerial work rescue, basic knots/rigging, hand signals and hoisting, boom capacity, CDL permit training, fall protection, confined spaces and first aid and CPR/AED.
