Michael A. Crawford, a Certified Public Accountant and internationally recognized speaker and professional development instructor, will conduct an ethics training workshop Oct. 5 [TUESDAY] at East Central University.

The workshop will focus on "Ethics in Work and Life - Living a Life Worth Living" and will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. the Estep Multimedia Center in the Bill S. Cole University Center. All faculty, staff and community members are invited. There is no charge to attend.

Registration is required to receive two hours of Continuing Professional Education credits, however. The cost is $25. To register for CPEs, contact Jannason Long in the Center of Continuing Education and Community Services at 580-559-5859.

Funds earned will go to the School of Business Scholarship Fund, said Dr. Thomas Lanis, director of ECU's Oscar L. Parker Center for Advancement of Ethical Standards in Business and Society. The Parker Ethics Center and ECU's School of Business are sponsoring the workshop.

Crawford, who has more than 32 years of experience working in the practice area of state and local government accounting and auditing, is chairman emeritus of Crawford & Associates in Oklahoma City. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from ECU in 1977.

He has provided hundreds of professional development training sessions covering nearly every state in the United States and a number of other countries. He has authored or co-authored many publications, including CCH CPAs "Guide to Ethics and Professional Conduct."
