Adults in Ada can sample a free yoga class Monday [Jan. 12] at East Central University. The Center of Continuing Education & Community Services will offer the one-hour class at 5:45 p.m. in Science Hall, Room 318.

No experience or equipment is necessary for the free class.

Regular yoga classes will be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting Jan. 26. Both days offer gentle and beginning hatha yoga sessions.

Monday's schedule starts with the gentle class from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a Beginner Yoga/Yoga for Golfers class at 5:45. Instructor Rebecca Gatz has 16 years of yoga experience and was included in Yoga Journal's article on small town yoga teachers in 2005.

Wednesday classes are taught by RYT-certified instructor Adrianna Lancaster. The beginner hatha class starts at 5:15 p.m. and the gentle class at 7 p.m.

Yoga is a 5,000-year-old method of exercise emphasizing stretching, balance, stress reduction and relaxation.
