Mission

In support of the East Central University Mission and the Division of Student Development Mission, The Office of Campus Life & Leadership offers ECU student’s opportunities to develop, enhance, explore and empower their lives and their college experience through service, training, entertainment, education, programming and the development of Tiger Spirit.

ECU Student Clubs and Organizations

The Office of Campus Life and Leadership strive to enhance student life by promoting involvement in the ECU community as well as leadership development. This mission is accomplished by providing educational, social, and cultural campus-wide programming through ECU’s student activities board, and by providing direct advisement for the governing bodies of ECU’s six chapters of (inter)national Greek-letter organizations and one local chapter.

The Office of Campus Life and Leadership also provide services, leadership development resources, and recognition programs for ECU’s nearly 50 student organizations. Developing relationships with many ECU community organizations, the Office of Campus Life and Leadership encourages students to become engaged in the ECU community, especially those areas adjacent to ECU’s campus.

ECU hosts over sixty student organizations. Student Organizations connect students with a stronger sense of community, develop group building and leadership skills, and serve as an outlet for self expression and sharing of talents. The Office provides assistance with student organization recognition, organization recruitment and retention, publicizing on campus, and event planning.

Campus Life and Leadership works with student organizations in planning on-campus meetings, workshops, speakers, cultural programs, service projects and other special events. Getting involved in a student organization is a great way to meet others, develop leadership skills, and pursue your interests. You can get involved at whatever level works best for you.

Do you have an idea for a club or organization that you’re passionate about? Start a new club!

All clubs and organizations must be approved by the Student Government Association (SGA). All recognized student clubs and organizations are expected to operate within East Central University policies and procedures.

Creating a student organization is a linear process, but it is important to understand the steps involved:

  • Initial planning
  • Application for recognition
  • Recognition
  • Recruitment
  • Funding
