Student Organization Support Series:  SOS Series

As an initial year program, we are repeating the fall series this spring semester.  We encourage advisors and officers to attend both sessions.  Advisors who attended the fall series will not have to attend the spring series.  Please send new officers.  All student organizations are required to have representation at these series to be recognized as an active organization.


Dates:     September 14 and October12, 2010
Times:     Noon and  5 P.
Where:   Estep,  Bill S. Cole University Center
Who should attend:   Student Organization officers and advisors.  Every student organization is required to have representation at every SOS Series in order to continue active status.  Although you may choose the time, attendance for both dates must be recorded.  For your convenience, the two fall sessions are given twice, noon and 5 P.

Risk Management and Campus Involvement -- How to get help when you need it.
This presentation will cover the world of hazing and its misconceptions including your risks and responsibilities as an officer or advisor of your student organization.  We'll also discuss your organization's campus involvement and leadership and why it is important for you to be familiar with the student code of conduct.

October 12, Noon and/or 5 P. (organizations must attend one)
Functioning and Fundraising -  The second SOS session will present  how to utilize student government funds, allumni grant opportunities and local resources as well as reserve campus facilities and promote your programs.  Want new members?  How to attract them and keep them will also be discussed.  It's all about balance and providing your members an opportunity to benefit from their membership.
