Statewide Judicial Educator Program
The Statewide Judicial Education Program (SJEP) at East Central University’s Contract Training and Professional Development Institute (CTPDI) assists in reducing the number of alcohol-related fatalities statewide by providing a program of training for judges and other judiciary personnel regarding the prosecution and adjudication of impaired drivers. ECU has a contract through the Oklahoma Office of Highway Safety (OHSO) to provide the program and Judge George W. Lindley is the contracted Statewide Judicial Educator. In 2010, there were 245 alcohol related fatalities and the goal of the OHSO is to reduce that to 238 or fewer in 2013.
The SJEP program began at ECU in July 2012 and we were able to provide two training opportunities during September 2012. Both courses were approved through the Office of Administrative Courts for Judicial CLEs and the grant funds were available to reimburse judges for their mileage to and from the workshops.
