The Native American Voices Influencing Student Success Project
The Voices Project was created to lessen barriers impacting access to success in postsecondary education for ECU's Native American students.
Some Native American students come across educational barriers such as accessibility to the college (commuting) and little Internet access to rural citizens. Employment barriers are also present to some students in higher education because of little opportunities for work. Few entertainment, recreation, and cultural opportunities exist for many Native American students as well.
Graduation rates are lower and drop-out rates are higher for Native American students in universities world-wide. Few universities have the resources and people to know how to correct this problem.
The Voices Project here at East Central University is taking these challenges head-on. We are as determined as our students to succeed!
