Mission: The Center for Entrepreneurship at ECU grows entrepreneurs. We do this by facilitating opportunities through curriculum, internship, business-plan competitions and community outreach.
The Entrepreneurship concentration at ECU is the only undergraduate entrepreneurship concentration in the state of Oklahoma designed to create entrepreneurs. Our content is derived from the best practices in entrepreneurship from the United States and Europe.
The Center for Entrepreneurship provides the best practices in the United States and Europe with small classes and personal attention giving students and community members the opportunity to determine their own future.
The Concentration is divided into three interrelated components:
Course Work
Each of the six courses in the curriculum is specifically designed to fulfill the mission of the Center by delivering a portion of the total set of tools the student will need to successfully start and grow a new business.
The six courses include:
Business Plan Development
Each course requires the student entrepreneur to create a business plan. We feel that the more business plans the student creates the better they become at this skill. The Center sponsors an annual business plan competition. The winner of which will receive assistance from the Center and its personnel in seeking start-up capital and resources.
"Aftercare"
Experience tells us that if the first-time entrepreneur is mentored by an experienced entrepreneur, the new entrepreneur will be successful. This is what we do. The Center has formed an Angel Network that complements the business plan competition by mentoring the winners. The Angel Network, which is comprised of successful entrepreneurs, is a significant resource for the entrepreneurship student.
