The workhorse of all the Department's facilities is the Devon Spatial Graphics and Analysis Laboratory. The hardware in this lab was funded by Devon Energy Corporation and was dedicated on January 31, 2007. Of all the facilities, majors spend most of their time in this one since the cartography, geographical information system, and remote sensing courses use the various computer software programs for class instruction and assignments.
This lab allows students to develop their skills on equipment that is equal to or superior to the workplace and the acquisition, storage, and processing of various kinds of spatial data is made easier with Devon Energy's generous support. The lab is equipped with 17 Dell Optiplex 745 Minitowers with Intel Pentium D Processor 945 (3.4GHz), Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 4GB Memory, 48X32 CDRW/DVD combo drive, and two Dell 24 inch UltraSharp 2407FPW widescreen monitors. The lab also contains one large format HP Designjet 1050C Plus plotter donated by Devon Energy Corporation in May 2007 and an HP Business Inkjet 120C color printer. Specific software includes: 2007 Microsoft Suite, ESRI ArcGIS 9.2, and RSI ENVI 4.3. Campus network capabilities are provided.
