Department of Nursing Accreditation

The School of Nursing was establish by East Central University in 1972 to meet the need for a high quality Baccalaureate degree nursing program in Southeastern Oklahoma. The first class of 21 students graduated in 1974. The program received initial NLN accreditation in 1978 and has maintained continuous accreditation since that time. The Oklahoma Board of Nursing approved the program in 1974 and it has received continuing approval at every five year site visit from the Board every since. Both the NLNAC and the OBN are scheduled for accreditation and approval visits in February of 2006.
