Department of Nursing Accreditation

 

The Department of Nursing was establish by East Central University in 1972 to meet the need for a high quality Baccalaureate degree nursing program in Southeastern Oklahoma. The first class of 21 students graduated in 1974. The program received initial National League for Nursing accreditation in 1978 and has maintained continuous accreditation since that time. The Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) approved the program in 1974 and it has received continuing approval at every five year site visit from the Board ever since. The Department earned full five year accreditation when OBN visited in 2011. The Department's next NLNAC accreditation visit will be in Spring 2014.
