Department of Physics
Medical Physics Program
East Central has one of the few Medical Physics BS programs in the U.S. The purpose of this degree is to best prepare students for entry into a masters program in medical physics, however, graduates might find some jobs in the field that do not require a MS. There are CAMPEP accredited institutions for medical physics in the U.S. and Canada. There are many other non accredited institutions; however to sit for board exam students must have graduated from an accredited university. The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center is the closest MS/PhD medical physics granting institution and the only one in Oklahoma. OK State University is currently working on accreditation.
See Dr. Williams or look online for other MS/PhD universities. This BS degree option in medical physics was designed to allow the student to have the courses necessary to attend any of the accredited schools after careful selection of electives.
