TIPS:
The pieces featured on the front and the back of the magazine will be the only pieces printed in color. All other selected works will be printed in black and white. The Originals staff wants very colorful works featured on the covers so keep that in mind when making submissions.
All photos should be taken at a high quality setting. Pictures that are very small, pixelated, blurry, distorted, or taken poorly will not be accepted.
When photographing 3-dimensional work such as sculpture or ceramics you should choose a location to photograph that has a neutral background and a good light source. An art faculty member can help you with this. Jewelry should be photographed on black felt or velvet.
Photos of 2-dimensional work should include the image of the artwork only. Cropping the image is essential. Photos that include picture frames, reflections, or objects in the background will not be considered for the magazine. Hang your piece on a wall, and using a tripod, position the camera's lens in the direct center of the picture. Doing this will help minimize distortion.
You may consult art faculty members before submitting your entries. No suggestions will be made after the entries are submitted. So please make sure you have done everything correctly prior to making your submissions.
