Your Exemplary Faculty Member of the Year for 2008 is
Dr. Linda Reese
Dr. Linda Reese has been a member of the History Department since 2002. She has taught a variety of courses in U.S. History, Oklahoma History, and Women's History. She is the author of Women of Oklahoma, 1890-1920 (University of Oklahoma Press, 1997) as well as journal articles and book reviews in The Chronicles of Oklahoma and Western Historical Quarterly. She is currently working on a study of freedwomen in post Civil War Indian Territory. Dr. Reese sponsored Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society, for five years. She currently serves on the Honors Board, the Education Committee, and as Director of the Oklahoma Studies Program. She particularly enjoys her work as a content specialist with the Teaching American History Grant that makes presentations to pre-service ECU history students and area public school teachers. ECU honored her with the teaching excellence award in 2006.
About the Exemplary Faculty Award
This award is presented to one tenure track faculty member who consistently promotes the success of students, exhibits outstanding character attributes, and serves as an exceptional mentor and advisor to students. This is the only award presented by the student body to a faculty member for their contribution to student life above and beyond the call of duty.
