Juvenile books may be checked out for 21 days with one renewal. The renewal period for juvenile books is 7 days. Reference materials and periodicals do not circulate.

Renewals

Most borrowers can renew items 7 days before the due date. The due date for a renewed item is calculated from the original due date. Overdue items cannot be renewed. Juvenile literature, reserve items, interlibrary loans, and items with holds also can not be renewed. Renewals may not be made by telephone or through the mail: however, books do not have to be brought to the library to be renewed. Borrowers may renew items by presenting an appropriate ID to a circulation staff member. Borrowers also can renew items themselves through the CatPac.

Overdue Books

Overdue notices are sent as a reminder to the borrower. Failure to receive such a notice is not grounds for reduction or cancellation of bills.

A bill will be sent when items are approximately 21 days overdue. A replacement price for the item or a default price of $50.00 will be levied for each lost or delinquent item. In addition, a $10.00 per item billing fee will be assessed. If the item is returned within 30 days of the date the bill was paid the patron may request that the replacement cost be refunded, provided that the item has not been replaced and that the material is in good condition.

All borrowers who have outstanding bills will be blocked from checking out library materials. A block will also be placed on the borrower's record in the Finance Office.

Change of Address

Patrons are responsible for notifying the library of any change of address. Failure to receive mail is not grounds for the reduction or cancellation of bills.

Holds

When a book you want is checked out, you may request that a hold be placed on the book. When the book is returned you will be notified that it is available for you to pick up.

Searches

If you cannot locate a book on the shelf, and it is not checked out to another patron, a search may be requested at the Circulation Desk. Please allow 3 weeks for search results.
