The Fall 2000 meeting of SIGALO was held at Oklahoma Baptist University.  Junie Janzen welcomed the group and introduced the speaker, Linda Taylor.  Linda is a senior cataloger from OSU, and this presentation was from the OSU Serials Cataloging Cooperative Training Program.

The first part of the presentation covered the basics of cataloging serials: defining a serial, original cataloging, and copy cataloging.  The second part emphasized cataloging electronic serials and included the differences in cataloging direct access serials and remote access serials.

Dana Belcher, who chaired the business meeting, announced that she will continue to maintain the SIGALO web and directory after rotating off of the Program Team.  She invited each technical services department to submit its webpage as links.  She also promoted the SIGALO-L listserv which needs other participates.  She asked for suggestions for future meeting topics and for hosting institutions.  She announced that Wanda Donica will be taking a new position at Cameron University and will no longer be on the program committee.

Judith Wilkerson, from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, introduced Colleen Ward as the new coordinator for OKULS.  She gave handouts to the group which laid out the format and guidelines for submitting updates.  Future training for updating the union holdings will possibly be given at several sites.

After lunch, John Sparks, OBU Dean of Library Services, gave his welcoming remarks, and Michael Kim, assistant cataloger from OSU Library, presented Access to Electronic Journals--Issues and Implications.  Complex issues such as licensing, authentication, and pricing models were presented.

The group dismissed to tour the Mabee Center.
