YOUNGSTERS CAN LEARN 'ALL ABOUT ART' IN FREE CLASSES IN APRIL
The East Central University Art for Secondary Teachers class, as part of project SOAP (Student Outreach Art Project), and the Ada Arts and Heritage Center will present a series of free art classes for elementary students at the Ada Arts and Heritage Center on April 7, 14, 21 and 30.
The classes, titled All About Art, explore a wide variety of art by exploring media. The projects will include ceramic picture frames, impressionist candle lamps and kites.
The classes are designed for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Classes will begin at 4 p.m. and will last 50 minutes.
The motto of project SOAP is "Art dirties your hands and cleanses your spirit," said Dr. Bradley Jessop, chair of ECU's Art Department. All classes and materials are free, but a donation to cover the expense of materials is welcomed.
For more information, contact the Ada Arts and Heritage Center at 332-7302 or Jessop at East Central University at 559-5355.
