A forum, hosted by East Central University’s College Republicans and Young Democrats, will feature candidates from House District 25 and the District Attorney seat for District 22 on Monday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center inside the Bill S. Cole University Center.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is being held in conjunction with ECU’s celebration of Constitution Day.

The three candidates for House District 25 have been invited to participate. including Daniel Manuel (D), Ronny Johns (R) and Gary Rhynes (I).

Manuel has been an Ada firefighter since 1997 and Johns is a longtime educator and current principal of Ada Junior High School. Rhynes is a local businessman. The seat has been filled by Todd Thomsen, who is stepping away due to term limits.

The two candidates for district attorney include Paul Smith (R) and Josh Edwards (D). Smith is the incumbent after being appointed to that position by Gov. Mary Fallin in 2017 to fill the unexpired term of Chris Ross. Edwards is an Ada attorney with practice that includes criminal law, family law and many other areas.
