 Area Teachers of the Year meet with Elizabeth Smith (center, front row), the 2011 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, also Byng’s Teacher of the Year and an East Central University graduate, before she spoke at the Marvin Stokes Endowed Lectureship Monday [NOV.11] at ECU. The teachers and their schools are Cathy Lankford of Holdenville (front row, from left), Brandi Dickson-Burks of Tecumseh, Elizabeth Smith of Byng, Sandy Slater of Davis, Katrina Lewis of Konawa, and (back row) ECU President John Hargrave, Cindy Ardrey of Ada, Shelli Sharber of Whitebead, RexAnn Lawson Freeman of Pauls Valley, Tracy Krug of Sulphur and Dr. Bill Osborne, dean of ECU’s College of Education and Psychology. Dickson-Burks was one of the 12 finalists for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.
