Retention Specialist - SS TRIO Grant - sECUre success
The Retention Specialist, reporting to the Project Director, is responsible for providing direct client (student) services in support of the grant objectives. The Student Support Services, sECUre success, project will assure that the economically, educationally, geographically, and culturally disadvantaged students in ECU's primary service area who meet SSS eligibility requirements gain postsecondary education access, experience postsecondary success, break the cycle of underachievement, and create better lives for themselves and their families as well as the people and communities they will serve in the future.
Responsibilities
- Identify, select, enroll, and assess the needs of students
- Provide academic, career, financial aid, and graduate school advisement
- Monitor academic progress of participants
- Provide special advisement for students who are on probation
- Enter student contact information into database and prepare monthly reports
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Education, Counseling, or closely related field required, and one year experience serving disadvantaged students or previous TRIO experience preferred. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide academic, career, financial aid, and graduate school advisement; have excellent computer, report writing and database management skills; and the ability to conduct academic success, cultural and educational programs, services, and events.
