Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology
Educational Psychology: The Department of Education at East Central University (ECU) is pleased to invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology, tenure track if eligible beginning August, 2013. ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Be responsible for delivering quality instruction in undergraduate professional education classes and graduate classes. The primary teaching responsibilities will be in Educational Psychology undergraduate classes and Techniques of Research graduate classes; Supervise student teachers; Pursue a focused area of research and scholarship that culminates in publications, professional presentations, and submission of grant proposals; Hold active membership in relevant professional association/organizations; Serve on committees and participate in official activities at the department, college, and university levels.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in education with an emphasis in educational psychology; candidates who are ABD or are close to ABD status may be considered; Demonstrated successful public school teaching experience; Experience with instructional technology (internet, instructional software, Blackboard, or similar); Commitment to prepare teachers for effective practice in public schools is essential; Ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (off-campus, weekends, on-line, or ITV) would be helpful.
