Assistant Professor of Psychology
PSYCHOLOGY - Developmental: the Psychology Department of East Central University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in psychology at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August, 2013.
East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates.
In addition to an undergraduate major in psychology, the Psychology Department offers a Master of Science Degree in Psychological Services (60 course hours) offering a Community Psychologist track and a School Psychologist track within the Master of Science program. Candidates for the position should be able to teach developmental psychology, child and adolescent counseling strategies and other undergraduate and graduate classes that match department needs and candidate interests. Responsibilities will also include student advisement, university service, and professional/scholarly contributions.
Qualifications include: Ph.D. or ABD in psychology or a related field is required. Area of specialization preferred: Developmental Psychology or Human Development. Practical experience in psychological services for children and adolescents is highly desired as the Candidates will be teaching graduate students seeking master’s degrees in counseling and school psychology. Candidates must be dedicated to teaching and maintaining high academic standards for the students in the ECU Psychology program and be willing to teach in a variety of formats: face to face, ITV, blended or online. Candidates should have the potential to establish and maintain a program of research. Strong candidates will have evidence of successful teaching, scholarly activity, practical experience, instructional technology experience, and professional accomplishments commensurate with experience.
