Assistant Professor of Psychology
PSYCHOLOGY – School Psychology: the Psychology Department of East Central University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in psychology at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August, 2013
East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates.
In addition to an undergraduate major in psychology, the Psychology Department offers a Master of Science Degree in Psychological Services. The department also offers School Psychology and School Psychometry certification programs and a School Psychologist track (60 course hours) within the Master of Science program. Candidates for the position should be able to teach graduate courses specific to school psychology including intellectual assessment, personality assessment, and other testing courses. Additionally, the applicant should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in testing, general psychology, and other courses that match department needs and candidate interests.
Qualifications include: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in School Psychology is required. ABD may be considered. Certification as a school psychologist is highly desirable as duties will involve supervision of students pursuing master’s degrees in school psychology and psychometry. Candidates must be dedicated to teaching and maintaining high academic standards for the students in the ECU Psychology program and be willing to teach in a variety of formats: face to face, ITV, blended or online. Candidates should have the potential to establish and maintain a program of research. Strong candidates will have public school experience, evidence of successful teaching, scholarly activity, practical experience, instructional technology experience, and professional accomplishments commensurate with experience.
