BUSINESS SCHOOL DEAN

East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university offering thirty-four undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in liberal arts, social sciences, business, education, health and sciences and nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, accounting, and psychology. ECU's 4,500 students come from 24 countries and 25 different states. About 70% of the 165 faculty members hold doctorates.

The School of Business is accredited by Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and enrolls 500 majors in the Department of Accounting and Department of Business Administration. Undergraduate majors available in the School include accounting, general business, management, marketing, MIS, finance, and entrepreneurship. The school also offers a master of science in accounting.

Located in the School of Business is the Parker Ethics Center, the Center for Entrepreneurship, the Small Business Development Center and the Oklahoma Degree Completion Program for Organizational Leadership.

Position Requirements:

  • Earned doctorate in a discipline in the School, OR a MBA/MS in a discipline offered in the School and significant senior-level management of a medium or large business or successful business ownership;
  • Demonstrated record of leadership;
  • Experience in implementing strategic planning;
  • Successful administrative experience at the department chair level or higher, or comparable management experience in a business setting;
  • A distinguished record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service OR a distinguished record of leadership, mentoring, and community support in a business setting;
  • Evidence of fostering an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and outreach or understanding, fostering and promoting company growth benchmarked by industry standards and forward thinking vision and trends; and
  • Commitment to maintaining ACBSP accreditation and mastering ACBSP accreditation requirements.

Expectations of the Dean:

  • Represent the faculty and students in a professional manner both on-campus and off-campus;
  • Represent the school and university effectively in community, business, governmental, alumni, and public forums;
  • Engage in fund-raising and work with foundations;
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and the business community;
  • On-going Interaction with Business School alumni;
  • Experience in and commitment to economic development; and
  • Understanding of student-centered learning.
