CRIMINAL JUSTICE INSTRUCTOR


Summary 

The Department of Human Resources of East University invites applications for a full-time position in Criminal Justice at either the Instructor level (non-tenure track) or the Assistant Professor level (tenure track). Starting date could be January 2012 at the earliest or August 2012 at the latest.

East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 31 countries and 28 different states. About 65% of the 173 faculty members hold doctorates.

Duties

This position is for a generalist in the area of Criminal Justice.  Primary responsibilities will include teaching a variety of courses within the program’s three undergraduate concentrations:  Law Enforcement, Juvenile Justice, and Adult Corrections; and some limited teaching in the program’s master’s concentration. Responsibilities will also include student advisement, university service, and professional/scholarly contributions.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is required. A doctorate degree is highly preferred. Strong candidates will have evidence of successful teaching, scholarly activity, and professional accomplishments commensurate with experience. Applied experience in the field of Criminal Justice is highly valued.
