GRADUATE REHABILITATION COUNSELOR

Summary

The Department of Human Resources of East Central University seeks applicants for a full-time position in Rehabilitation Counseling at either the Assistant Professor (tenure track if eligible), or Instructor level (non-tenure track). Starting date will be August 2012 at the latest. 

East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 31 countries and 28 different states. About 65% of the 173 faculty members hold doctorates.

Responsibilites

The successful candidate will: 1) be responsible for delivering quality instruction in graduate and undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas: Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Human Services/Administration; 2) supervise interns and practicum; 3) advise students 4) pursue a focused area of research and scholarship that culminates in publications, professional presentations, and submission of grant proposals;  5) hold active membership in relevant professional associations/organizations; and, 6) serve on committees and participate in official activities at the department, college, and university levels.

Qualifications

A Doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field. ABD or Master’s degree will be considered. Applicant must be a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or eligible to sit for the exam or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or eligible to sit for the Oklahoma LPC examination.  Experience with instructional technology (internet, instructional software, Blackboard, Wimba) and the ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (off-campus, weekends, on-line, or ITV) are preferred.  Applied experience in the field of Rehabilitation Counseling/Counseling is highly valued.
