JOURNEYMAN MECHANICAL/HEAT AIR REFRIGERATION

SUMMARY
Operation and maintenance of heating, air, refrigeration, and boiler room systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operation and maintenance of:

  • Water softeners (summer and winter)
  • Cooling towers, chemical treatment (summer)
  • Air conditioning, large and small (summer)
  • Boilers from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (winter)
  • Perform prevention maintenance as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree; two years college

  • Mechanical Room Cleaning
  • Care for Equipment
  • Assist with the continued enhancement of ECU by modeling appropriate behavior toward students and staff, and by displaying professional conduct at all times

Language Skills
Must be able to hear and speak in fluent English to exchange information in person, on the telephone, or using a two-way radio system

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • State Mechanical License
  • State Boiler License
  • Must have Oklahoma CDL License and Class B with air brakes

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of all phases of air conditioning, heating, electrical controls and wiring, and plumbing

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
