Foreign Mail
There are a couple of points to remember concerning foreign mail. An important point that most people are not familiar with is that mail being sent to U.S. territories such as American Samoa and Puerto Rico along with the military APO/FPO addresses are considered domestic mail. Foreign mail being sent from our office must weigh less than 16 ounces or you'll need to take the item to the Ada Post Office to fill out a customs slip in the presence of one of their clerks. Check with our office before mailing envelopes to students with foreign addresses if they are currently enrolled in classes and should be on campus. These students usually rent mailboxes from the Bookstore and we have a list of the student boxes for their mailroom. There are very specific guidelines for foreign mail which can be found in the Addressing Formats section. Please place your outgoing foreign mail in the correct slot of our mail receptacle instead of mixing it in with the regular domestic mail. When this happens, the envelopes are returned to campus for additional postage and it delays delivery of your items.
