                                                      Sandra Weiland

Mrs. Weiland received her master's degree (Family Nurse Practitioner track) from the University of Oklahoma in 2003. She is board certificated as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and has previously held Critical Care Certification (CCRN, AACN) and Med-Surg Certification (ANCC). Besides being the recipient of numerous awards for outstanding academic achievement and outstanding clinical achievement, Mrs. Weiland is a member of several honor societies among them Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. She holds professional membership in ANA, ONA, AANP, ONP, and TNP. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner and joining the faculty of ECU, Mrs. Weiland had 16 years experience practicing in ICU and to a lesser extent in progressive care/step down units, cath lab recovery, and Med-Surg. As a NP she has practice experience in primary care and emergency/urgent care. Currently she is pursuing the doctoral degree in nursing at Texas Woman's University with a research focus on Advanced Practice Nursing and barriers to autonomous practice. Mrs. Weiland successfully completed the preliminary doctoral examination in May, 2007. As a member of the ECU nursing faculty, Mrs. Weiland co-coordinates and teaches Child Bearing Family in the Fall, and Supervisory Process as well as Physical Assessment in the Spring. Additionally, she is a clinical instructor for Child Adult II in the spring.
