Gay-Straight Alliance
The East Central University Gay Straight Alliance is committed to fighting homophobia and heterosexism*. We provide a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning people to explore their sexual identity and to meet other queer people.
We also help to build a larger community of straight allies who are equally as dedicated to fighting homophobia.
*Homophobia refers to the irrational fear of anything that does not conform to rigid heterosexual role stereotypes. Heterosexism refers to the system of attitudes and behaviors that assume heterosexuality to be "normal".
