It’s the beginning of the end. While some are singing freedom songs and giving thanks for success and good times ahead, some are headed into disturbia reminiscing over the semester behind.
The college life extends beyond books, professors and research paper all nighters. It contains a social sphere in itself that is truly unlike any other. The bubble college students find themselves in is laden with lessons, joys, hurts and sighs. The attitude we take to each experience makes all the difference.
Quite a few Tigers may be ending the year with broken hearts, screwed up relationships, mistakes, regrets and even nightmares of that ‘one night with that one person that wasn’t supposed to happen.’ Who hasn’t been in such a position? Yes, let ye that is without sin, cast the first stone.
Right now, let the focus be to mend what can be fixed and leave the pieces to those broken parts that are irreparable or aren’t worth fixing.
Yes, evaluate each relationship and situation. Will this person contribute to my development as a person? What should I have learned from this? When "I’m into you" turns into "No air" think carefully before humming "I want you back."
One major decision in the evaluation process is not repeating mistakes. That’s just messed up. Most people haven’t mastered the 70 times seven forgiveness rule. It’s not cool to take advantage of our 'get out of jail free' cards that kind friends and lovers often give us.
In essence it’s too late to apologize for the past. Learn from the best and worst of those times. Don’t mope. Life goes on. Don’t stop the music. Just shut up and drive. The reality is that the storm is over and you can influence the future. Live and live fully. Forget regrets.
     There’s no day but today.
