-first generation college student and economically disadvantaged OR a member
-of a minority group traditionally underrepresented in graduate education
-have declared a major in mathematics or any science related field
-have at least sophomore standing (30 credit hours)
-have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher, on a 4.0 scale.
-gain an understanding of the importance of graduate school for your future;
-participate in mentoring arrangements with ECU faculty members;
-attend colloquia programs designed to explore aspects of graduate school and the opportunities available
-receive assistance in identifying financial aid sources and in selecting an appropriate graduate school
-be a part of an elite group of students with shared interests and concerns. The group will be able to share their experiences and form a common bond to improve preparation and motivation for graduate study
-gain research experience by participating in the $2800 McNair Research Internship at the USEPA Robert S. Kerr Reserach Laboratory in Ada, Oklahoma
-have the opportunity to present research at various student conferences.
