Dr. Allen Correll is currently Associate Professor and Director of Bands at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He teaches courses at ECU in conducting, band literature, applied trumpet, and instrumental methods. Dr. Correll earned his DMA degree in conducting from the University of Oklahoma in 2009 where he graduated with honors and was awarded the outstanding dissertation prize in humanities. Prior to his graduation from OU, he presented a research paper on Percy Grainger at the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2007 and is a contributing author to the new book titled Grainger the Modernist which was published March 9, 2015. Before joining the faculty at East Central University in 2003, he was Director of Bands at Westmoore High School in the Moore Public School System. Dr. Correll was internationally recognized as a Sudler Flag of Honor recipient for the Westmoore High School Band Program in 1997. Dr. Correll received the Governor’s Commendation for Music Education and the National Band Association Citation for Excellence in 1998. He was also awarded the OBA Band Director of the Year in 1993. He also served as the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Band Vice-President from 1997 through 1999 and OBA President in 1996 and was inducted into the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame in 2005.
