Evan G. Chancellor
Dr. Chancellor is the Horn Instructor at East Central University and has previously held teaching positions with Oral Roberts University, Oklahoma Baptist University and public schools in Oklahoma and Texas. In the summers, Chancellor teaches at Hummingbird Music Camp (New Mexico). He also serves on the faculty of El Sistema Oklahoma, an orchestral music program for inner-city youth. Mr. Chancellor plays 2nd Horn with the Norman Philharmonic Orchestra, the Frontier Brass Band and the Oklahoma Haydn Festival and was featured as a soloist with the Hadyn Festival in 2014. He plays extra horn for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and has also performed with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, the Enid Symphony, the North Texas Chamber Orchestra and the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas as well as the orchestra of the Eisenstadt Classical Music Festival in Austria. Chancellor has been featured as lead mellophone with the Edmond Jazz Orchestra and solo horn for the North Texas Brass Band. Chancellor is an active recitalist and has performed with a wide variety of chamber ensembles including the Boulevard Brass Quintet, the Blackwelder Brass and the Sinfonia Wind Quintet. Chancellor holds a BM from the University of North Texas, MM from Oklahoma City University, and DMA from the University of Oklahoma. His primary teachers were William Scharnberg, Kate Pritchett, Haley Hoops and Eldon Matlick. Professional affiliations include the International Horn Society, the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), the National Association for Music Education (MENC/NAfME) and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
