Evan Chancellor is a sought-after teacher and performing artist. As Horn Instructor at East Central University he teaches applied lessons, directs the ECU Brass Choir, and coaches the student Horn Ensemble. Dr. Chancellor is also on the faculty of El Sistema Oklahoma City and Hummingbird Music Camp. He previously held teaching positions at Oklahoma Baptist University, Oral Roberts University and in public schools in Oklahoma and Texas. Dr. Chancellor is an active recitalist who has given solo and chamber performances in Austria, France, Japan, China and throughout the U.S. He is a member of the Norman Philharmonic, the Frontier Brass Band and the Oklahoma Haydn Festival and performs regularly with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic. He was a concerto soloist with the Haydn Festival in 2014 and has been featured as solo horn of the North Texas Brass Band and lead mellophone with the Edmond Jazz Orchestra. He has appeared with diverse artists including Pink Martini, the Byron Berline Band, Edgar Cruz and Nobuyuki Tsujii and has collaborated with composers including Frank Tichelli, Randol Bass, Libby Larsen and Michael Daugherty. Chancellor has also performed with the Tulsa Symphony, Enid Symphony, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, the Oklahoma Festival Ballet, the North Texas Chamber Orchestra and the Eisenstadt Classical Music Festival Orchestra. Chancellor holds a BM from the University of North Texas, MM from Oklahoma City University, and DMA from the University of Oklahoma. His primary teachers on the horn were William Scharnberg, Kate Pritchett, Haley Hoops and Eldon Matlick. Professional affiliations include the International Horn Society, the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), the National Association for Music Education (MENC/NAfME) and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
