    A Chamber Music in the Art Gallery concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday [FEB. 24] in the Pogue Art Gallery at East Central University. The gallery is in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
                

    ECU faculty and students will perform music from Italy, Spain, France, America and Poland. Admission is free.

    Artistic historian Eric Humphries will discuss his work on the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday [FEB. 23] in the Estep Multimedia Center at East Central University. The center is on the first floor of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    Humphries’ work is on exhibit until March 18 in the Pogue Art Gallery in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. The gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Original compositions by faculty, students and friends of East Central University will be featured in a recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 [MONDAY] in the Ataloa Theatre in ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
               

    Several works on the program will have their premiere performances, including “Elegy for Saxophone and Piano” by Dr. Mark Hollingsworth and “Mizmar Kaf Gimmel” (Psalm 23) by Dr. Alan Marshall.

    The second Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy, designed to improve the quality and consistency of services to victims in Oklahoma, will be held June 5-10 at East Central University in Ada. Applications and all required documents must be received by Feb. 28.

    Audience members probably won’t find their true love in a stranger they see across the crowded Ataloa Theatre, but East Central University is planning several enchanted evenings when “South Pacific” opens Thursday [FEB. 17] in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Friday and at 2 p.m. Sunday [FEB. 20].

    The 95th Interscholastic Meet scheduled Tuesday [FEB. 8] at East Central University has been cancelled because of school closings and road conditions. It will not be rescheduled.

    The meet annually draws about 1,500 high school students who compete in tests ranging from accounting to world history. ECU holds the oldest and largest interscholastic meet in Oklahoma.
