    Come experience “A Night at the Opera” and hear your favorite arias and ensembles from standard opera repertoire at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Dorothy Summers Theatre on the East Central University campus. The opera will feature the music of Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven, Delibes and will be performed by ECU students, faculty and alumni. Admission is free for everyone.

    Carlee Henderson was voted queen and Christian Cody was named king at halftime of East Central University’s 2015 Homecoming football game Oct. 31. Henderson is a junior biology major from Latta and Cody is a senior business management major from Tecumseh. Henderson was representing the Vision Bank Presidential Leadership Class Program and Cody was representing the Business Leaders Association.

    Dr. Bill Anthes will present the Fifth Annual Lockmiller Lecture at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at East Central University’s Estep Multimedia Center in the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    The lecture is free and open to the public.

    Anthes, a professor of art history at Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif.., will be addressing the place of Native American artists, within contemporary art history, in regard to issues of identity and institutional politics.

    Shawn Sheehan, 2016 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, will present the Marvin Stokes Lecture at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 in the Estep Multimedia Center inside East Central University’s Bill S. Cole University Center.

    The lecture is free and open to the public.

    ECU SCREENS continues its fall season with Hamlet at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in East Central University’s Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    Considered by many to be Shakespeare’s greatest work, Hamlet is a tragic story of vengeance and betrayal.

    Former East Central University football player Tom Darter has been named the recipient of the 2015 Milam Award.

    The Milam Award is presented annually at ECU’s homecoming football game to a former Tiger football player who not only excelled in the classroom and on the gridiron, but also distinguished himself in his chosen career.  The award is named in honor of Joe Milam, a former educator and coach in the states of Oklahoma and Texas.

    Miss Oklahoma Georgia Frazier will serve as the grand marshal of East Central University’s 2015 Homecoming Parade, which is set for Saturday at noon along Main Street in Ada.

    The parade is one of many activities on tap for the weekend. Those attending ECU’s Homecoming festivities can keep up-to-date on activities throughout the weekend on the ECU Tiger Homecoming Facebook Page.

    Candidates for East Central University’s 2015 Homecoming Queen/King have been announced. The king and queen will be crowned at halftime Saturday of the Tigers’ football game with Arkansas-Monticello. The kickoff is at 4 p.m.
