Mark your calendars for the second annual Red Ribbon Gala hosted by the Pontotoc County Drug Free Coalition (PCDFC).
This year’s Winter Wonderland Gala event will take place on Friday, Feb. 9 at East Central University University’s Stanley Wagner Ballroom beginning at 6 p.m. The event will include a delicious meal, a silent auction, a speaker, entertainment, community awards and more. Event registration is now open at www.pcdfc.org.

Crimes of the Heart, which won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play, will be performed by the East Central University Theatre Department, Jan. 25-27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chalmers Herman Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
The production is being directed by ECU student Margie Beck, of Ada, as a senior project. Beck is a native of Redlands, California and has lived in Ada for nine years. She has lived in Oklahoma since 1992

Outstanding professionals from the neuroscience field will be on hand for the Sixth Annual Raniyah T. Ramadan Symposium set for Wednesday, Jan. 24, beginning at 1 p.m. in East Central University’s Foundation Hall inside the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.
The Ramadan Symposium, which is free and open to the public, is named in honor of the late Dr. Raniyah Ramadan, who was a research scientist in neuro-ophthalmology.
The symposium was established and is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Tawfik Z. Ramadan, the parents of the late Raniyah Ramadan.

ECU SCREENS kicks off its spring season with “Yerma,” Simon Stone’s radical reimagining of Spanish playwright Federico Garcia Lorca’s dramatic masterpiece.
Recorded live at the Young Vic Theatre in London, this highly celebrated adaptation will be shown in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10. Admission is free for ECU students.

East Central University will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 15. ECU offices will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m. That will also be the first day of classes for the 2018 Spring Semester.

The East Central University Wind Ensemble, along with the Dale High School Concert Band, will be performing a free concert on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
Everyone is welcome to view and listen to the sounds of the two groups as they perform their Pre-OkMEA (Oklahoma Music Educators Association) Concert. The ECU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Allen Correll, will be performing at the OkMEA Conference at Assembly Hall of the Cox Business Center in Tulsa on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 7:15 p.m.

Take a journey and experience a vast array of Broadway shows as East Central University hosts Broadway Tonite Live! set for Friday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
Broadway Tonite Live! is a highly-paced musical revue with a cast of four attractive, multi-talented Broadway performers, with numerous Broadway credits.

First-time transfer students, first-time beginning freshmen and all concurrent students who have cleared the admission process, may call ECU’s Academic Success Center at 580-559-5696 to make an appointment for academic advisement and enrollment.
