    Violinist Maureen O'Boyle and pianist Stuart Deaver will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday [SEPT. 19] in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    The concert, which is free and sponsored by ECU's Music Department, will follow the Motorcycle Art Expo earlier in the day at the fine arts center.

    A five-year $1.1 million federal grant has been awarded to East Central University to help students’ improve their academic achievement, stay in school and graduate.

    East Central University has a record enrollment this semester with 4,893 students, an increase of 6.3 percent over last fall.

    "This is the highest enrollment in our history," said ECU President John Hargrave. "This is good news for the university and the Ada area and good news for these students. It means more students are taking advantage of earning a college degree."

    Walter Echo-Hawk, a noted Native American lawyer, indigenous rights activist and author, will deliver the Julian J. Rothbaum Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs Sept. 16 [THURSDAY] at East Central University.

    Echo-Hawk will discuss “In the Courts of the Conqueror: The Constitution and the American Indian” at 7 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    Free bike and tattoo contests, a motorcycle art exhibit and the opportunity to see pre-1916 motorcycles participating in the coast-to-coast Motorcycle Cannonball endurance run will be part of the Motorcycle Art Expo Sept. 18 and 19 [SATURDAY AND SUNDAY] at East Central University in Ada.

    A moment of silence will be observed before East Central University's first home football game Saturday [SEPT. 11] on the ninth anniversary of 9/11 -- the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in 2001.

    The ECU Tigers will play Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m. at Norris Field on Family Day.

    Ada's Sante Fe Steakhouse will hold a fundraiser dinner Thursday [SEPT. 9] for East Central University's Guard Officer Leader Development (GOLD) Program, part of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chickasaw Community Center, 700 E. Mississippi.
