    College students planning to transfer to East Central University can attend Transfer Enrollment Day April 9 [WEDNESDAY] to get a head start on their summer or fall classes.

    To attend Transfer Enrollment Day, students must pre-register and submit an application for admission to ECU. Both forms are available online at www.ecok.edu by clicking on Prospective Tigers and then the link to Transfer Enrollment Day.

    The 54th Annual Faculty Exhibition is underway in the University Gallery through April 11 at East Central University.

    It will be the final faculty show in the current gallery at the east entrance of the Education Building, since the Art Department will move to the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center when it is completed.

    Award-winning authors with ties to Oklahoma, along with regional, published and emerging authors/writers, will read from their works Thursday through Saturday [APRIL 3-5] at East Central University.

    Featured authors in ECU's third annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival will be Dayna Dunbar, Phil Heldrich and Diane Glancy. More than 50 authors and writers from Texas to Minnesota, Washington and Arizona will read from their novels, poetry, essays and other works. All sessions are free and open to the public.

    The top high school and junior high school science projects from across the state will be on exhibit beginning tonight [March 27] at East Central University.

    Students will present their research projects at the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair and their research papers at the Oklahoma Junior Academy of Science. Both are held annually at ECU.

    Cash, science-related prizes and scholarships will be awarded in the two competitions.

    Three organizations representing the students, faculty and staff members at East Central University have approved separate resolutions opposing the passage of legislation that would allow concealed weapons on Oklahoma colleges and university campuses.

    The final pre-service colloquium of the school year for education students will be conducted Friday and Saturday [MARCH 28-29] by the Center for Advancement of American History at East Central University.

    Terri Brecheen, the innovative superintendent of the Cottonwood School System, will address the challenges of small rural schools and lead a discussion on preparing to teach. Her presentation will be open to the public at 6 p.m. Friday in the Estep Multimedia Center in the University Center.

    Shiloh Renes, a 2007 graduate of East Central University, has been named the recipient of a $15,000 Merit Scholarship from the Oklahoma City University School of Law for the 2008-09 school year.

    She entered OCU's law school last fall.

    A best-selling author, acclaimed speaker and award-winning entrepreneur often referred to as the "Gen Y Guy" will be the keynote speaker Tuesday [APRIL 1] for TEAM GEAR UP's annual Career Symposium at East Central University.

    Jason Ryan Dorsey, who wrote the national bestseller "Graduate to Your Perfect Job" in his college dorm room, will address approximately 320 9th grade students from Allen, Byng, Milburn, Roff, Stonewall, Tupelo, Vanoss and Wapanucka.
