    The East Central University Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business Stakeholder Luncheon is set for noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

    The unveiling of the new Business Scholars Program will take place and representatives from Kellogg and Sovereign Consulting, LLC will be speaking about the new student opportunity.

    Just how far a scorned woman will go to exact her revenge will be on display as East Central University hosts the screening of Medea at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8,  in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    Be a part of a season filled with murder mystery, comic relief and live music at East Central University. Purchase season tickets for the 2014-2015 fine arts season at ECU and enjoy all of the talent and the productions coming to the area.

    The feature lineup includes L.A. Theatre Works: In the Heat of the Night (Nov. 5), The Second City Hits Home (Jan. 23) and the Annie Moses Band (March 27).

    Proof will be East Central University’s first theatrical production of the 2014-2015 fine arts season on Oct. 9-11 at the Chalmers Herman Theatre, inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    Each performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. The play is rated mature for explicit language.

    Proof, by David Auburn, was the winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a 2001 Tony Award for Best Play. It was made into a movie in 2005, starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jake Gyllenhaal and Hope Davis.

    A high-level, British parliamentary debate can be experienced by the East Central University and Ada communities on Sunday, Oct. 5 as the 2014 British National Debate Team makes an appearance on campus.

    The ECU Tiger Speech and Debate team is hosting the British parliamentary debate at 6 p.m. in the ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public. Before the event, the British National and ECU debate teams will host a workshop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

    Dr. Shelley Ross Hamby, East Central University’s assistant vice president for presidential projects and planning, has been named to The Journal Record’s 2014 Fifty Women Making a Difference.

    Hamby will be recognized at the 2014 Journal Record Woman of the Year awards gala on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

    The event honors 50 female business and community leaders from across the state.

    Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity recently honored East Central University President John Hargrave as a 2014 Alumni Award winner.

    Hargrave received the honor at the PIKE International Convention held July 31-Aug. 4, at Baltimore, Md. He was one of seven Pi Kappa Alpha alumni, from across the United States and Canada, honored at the convention with an award this year.

    Hargrave has served as president of his alma mater since 2009 and graduated with honors from ECU in 1977, majoring in speech and sociology, before earning his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1980.

    Seven East Central University students were awarded funding under the NASA National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program for the 2014-2015 academic year due to their creativity, initiative and motivation.

    Awards were presented in the form of scholarship and research stipends, ranging from $700 to $2,000 for the academic year.
