    “Transport,” the senior exhibit by Ryan Ringle of Ada, an art major at East Central University, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in the Pogue Art Gallery in ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    An award-winning attorney who also works to stop drug and alcohol abuse among young people and helps impoverished people in Africa will deliver the commencement address Dec. 11 [SATURDAY] for East Central University’s fall semester graduates.

    The second annual Christmas Tour of Homes will offer a memorable holiday event Dec. 6 [MONDAY]. Four beautifully decorated homes in the Ada area will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

    “Last year’s tour was so successful that we are pleased to once again offer this to our community,” said Cheryl Bell, coordinator of East Central University’s Child Care Resource & Referral Agency.

    The Veterans Assistance and the Admissions and Records Offices at East Central University are asking people to sign Christmas cards that will be sent to military personnel serving overseas.

    Pamela Armstrong, ECU’s director of admissions and records, registrar, and veterans assistance coordinator, is overseeing the Christmas Card for Service Personnel project again this year.

    The ECU Singers and the University Chorale will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 [THURSDAY] at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada.

    Dr. Steve Walker, professor of music at East Central University, will direct both groups in traditional works, but most of the program features pieces that have been composed during the last five years, including two by Ada composers Victoria Davison and Rudy Lupinski.

    One of the three major buildings constructed at East Central University during the presidency of Dr. Bill S. Cole will be formally dedicated in his honor on Nov. 29 [MONDAY]. The program will begin at 2 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Center and is open to the public.

    The annual chili cookoff held by East Central University’s fraternities and sororities will begin serving the public at 11:30 p.m. Thursday [NOV. 18] in front of ECU’s Danley Hall. The cost is a minimum $2 donation per bowl. Proceeds will benefit the Ada Boys and Girls Club.

    The Greek chapters decided to hold the cookoff competition on Thursday in honor of ECU President John Hargrave who will be inaugurated as ECU’s eighth president on Friday.
