    Dr. Karen Williams, professor of physics at East Central University, has received the Winter 2010 American Association of Physics Teachers Distinguished Service Citation.

    Awards will be presented Tuesday [APRIL 13] to East Central University art students based on their portfolio performance in the 55th annual Student Exhibition in the Pogue Art Gallery in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    The scholarship awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. during the opening reception which runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

    Pinwheel gardens have been planted at both Glenwood Early Childhood Center and East Central University in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. The pinwheel is a symbol of the national theme, "It's Your Turn to Make a Difference."

    Two new scholarships will be presented Wednesday [APRIL 14] at the annual luncheon honoring outstanding students in the Department of Education, the Jack Paschall Scholarship and the Horace Mann Memorial Centennial Scholarship.

    The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wagner Ballroom in the Memorial Student Union and is open to the public. To make reservations, call Freda Low at 559-5348.

    A spring arts festival Monday and Tuesday [APRIL 12-13] at East Central University will showcase all the fine arts programs with the annual Student Art Show and 24-hour Drama and Film Festivals. All activities will be in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center and are open to the public.

    Three educators who began their successful careers at East Central University will be inducted into the Gene and Evelyn Keefer Educators Hall of Fame at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday [APRIL 14] in ECU's Danley Hall atrium.
