    High school marching bands will compete for awards Saturday [OCT. 2] in the first ECU Bron Warren Tiger Palooza at East Central University.

    The competition will begin at 4 p.m. at Norris Field. Each band will march twice, once for preliminary judging and again for the finals, which will begin at 7 p.m. A performance by ECU's Marching Band will conclude the program. The $2 cost covers admission and a program.

    The first astronomy viewing of East Central University's academic year will be from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursday [SEPT. 30]. Participants should be at the northwest corner of the Physical and Environmental Sciences Building in time to leave at 8 p.m. to drive to the country to view constellations.

    A tour to see some of the tallest mountains and rarest animals in Oklahoma will be conducted Oct. 9 [SATURDAY] by Dr. Michael Hughes of East Central University.

    The trip to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in western Oklahoma is the time to see and hear the refuge's elk during rutting season.

    Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe, the woman featured on KWTV News9's coverage of the Pros for Africa trip to Uganda last spring, will visit Ada and East Central University Wednesday [SEPT 29].

    An open house will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday [SEPT. 30] for the East Main Enterprise and Incubator which now houses two new arts-related businesses at 808 E. Main St.

    The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m.

    A "Salute to Education" day on Saturday [SEPT. 25] will honor area school employees and their families with free admission to the East Central University football game. The ECU Tigers will play the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs at 6 p.m. at Norris Field.

    ECU President John Hargrave has invited employees of Pontotoc County schools to be guests at the game. They can enter the stadium by showing their school ID cards at the gate.
