A unique dining experience at East Central University will offer a “Taste of Ukraine,” including borsch and dumplings prepared by three officials from International Christian University in Kiev, Ukraine, on Nov. 18 [THURSDAY].
The Ukrainians, including the president of the university, also will provide cooking demonstrations from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 219 of Faust Hall.

John R. Hargrave will be inaugurated as East Central University’s eighth president at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 19 [FRIDAY] in the Ataloa Theatre in ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. The public is invited to the ceremony and a reception that follows in the theatre’s Lockmiller Lobby.
Hargrave was named president of ECU on July 1, 2009, by the Board of Regents of the University System of Oklahoma.

Dr. James Rauch has been named the first Vision Bank endowed professor in banking and finance at East Central University. He will assume a leadership role in strengthening the relationship of the School of Business within the banking and finance community in ECU’s service area.

Two events at East Central University on Friday [NOV. 12] will explore the world through international teas and desserts, entertainment by international students and a Gift Fair of artisans’ crafts from Ten Thousand Villages and gifts and sponsorships through the Alternative Gift Market.

An auction of original works of art by East Central University alumni and faculty members will be held Saturday [NOV. 6] to raise money for scholarships in ECU’s Art Department.

Boy Scouts ages 11-18 will have the opportunity to either begin or complete three merit badges at the second annual Southern Oklahoma Merit Badge Fair Nov. 13 [SATURDAY] at East Central University in Ada.
A total of 20 different merit badges will be offered. Webelos Cub Scouts can participate in the “Webelos Wrangle.” They will have a chance to earn three activity badges, two belt loops and the U.S. Heritage Award which will qualify them for a medal and patch.
