    ADA – The Veterans Upward Bound Program, at East Central University, is hosting a Veterans and Military Resource Roundup on Monday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center on the ECU campus.

    The roundup features an informational speed sharing and networking event with service providers in the morning and an afternoon outreach session for veterans, military service members and their families.

    ADA – The East Central University Theatre Department will present The Imaginary Invalid, written by playwright/actor Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Moliere, on Nov. 14-16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chalmers Herman Theatre at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for senior citizens and non-ECU students. ECU alumni receive a $1 discount and admission is free to all ECU students, faculty and staff with an ECU ID. Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling the box office at 580-559-5751.

    ADA – Chris Eckler, former ECU Noyce Scholar and math teacher at Ada Junior High School, will be the presenter at East Central University’s Fall 2013 Noyce Colloquium on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Regents Room of the Memorial Student Union.

    Eckler’s topic will be teaching junior high mathematics in Ada.

    The event will include free pizza and soda.

    ADA – Lindsey Alley indeed has some stories to tell.

    Alley may have not achieved the glamour of some of her fellow Mouseketeers from the All-New Mickey Mouse Club, but she certainly describes her life as fascinating.

    She will be performing her one-woman, comedy-music show titled “Blood, Sweat and Mouseketears” on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at East Central University’s Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

    ADA – Transfer Enrollment Day for Eastern Oklahoma State College, Murray State College and Seminole State students, who are planning to attend East Central University for the 2014 spring semester, is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 12:30 p.m. in the Bill S.     ADA – Mary Bishop is pleased to see how far East Central University has come in regards to the acceptance of alternative lifestyles.

    Bishop, an ECU graduate and former instructor in the university’s department of mass communication, is glad that a Gay-Straight Alliance is active on campus as she and her partner, Sharon Baldwin, served as guest speakers at a recent GSA event on the ECU campus.

    ADA – The East Central University Honors Program will present “Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light’ on Monday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Room in the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature Dr. Paul Bogard, from James Madison University, presenting his findings on the effects of light pollution and selections from his latest book The End of Night. Following the presentation, ECU’s Dr. Carl Rutledge will host a night sky viewing with telescopes.

    ADA – The East Central University Brandon Whitten Institute and Pontotoc County Drug Free Coalition has received a $625,000 grant for five years ($125,000 each year) to involve and engage the campus and Ada community in preventing substance abuse among youth.

    The grant came through the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
